Crust & Mantle: Minerals and Trace Elements in Herbs
“The mineral and trace element content of our foods, including more than 20 nutrients known to be essential to normal health, has plummeted decade by decade across the last two generations.” ~ The Healing Power of Minerals and Trace Elements, Paul Bergner
The poor agricultural practices used to produce food on an industrial scale have depleted our soils, and thus our food, of important nutrients, leading to deficiencies that have wide-reaching consequences for our health and vitality. The good news is, wild and weedy herbs have been shown to be significantly higher in important minerals and trace elements. This month's box will explore the function and role that minerals and trace elements play in our body and how herbs can be a rich, bioavailable source of these essential nutrients.

Herbs in this box may include red raspberry leaves, nettle leaves & seeds, horsetail, lambsquarters, amaranth, milky oats, yellow dock, oak, white sweet clover, crampbark... Products you may find in your box include an herbal tea, a finishing salt, a tincture, a greens powder, an herbal vinegar and/or an electuary.
Boxes are offered with sliding scale prices. To learn more about sliding scale pricing, please read this post. But basically, in a nut shell (pun intended!), I invite you to pay one of the reduced fees, if paying the full price would cause you to be less secure in your ability to meet your food, health, housing or essential transport needs. To determine where you fall on the scale when choosing which price to pay, please refer to this infographic created by Alexis J. Cunningfolk (Click image to enlarge).
