December: The Bath & Body Box

December: The Bath & Body Box

The cold temperatures and low humidity of winter can rapidly deplete our skin of moisture, leaving the largest organ of the body feeling dry, tight and itchy. Seriously dehydrated skin can become rough, chapped and even cracked and bleeding. The skin on our hands and face, often directly exposed to the elements, is especially vulnerable.

This month's box will be filled with all manner of moisturising remedies for your winter skin. In it you may find a Balsam Fir Body Butter, Calendula Body Oil, Tub Tea, Body Scrub, Lotion Bar, Skin Balm, Facial Cleansing Grains or Alterative Tea.

And since I won't put anything on my skin that I can't eat, all my products are free of preservatives, additives, petroleum products and artificial scents. I use organic butters and oils and buy from Fair Trade sources when available. These are products designed to slather on the body, with love and gratitude for the skin you're in!
The newsletter will explore some of our classic skin-healing herbs, look at metabolic tonics, and connect the dots between the health of digestive system and the condition of our skin. Learn about some of the concerns with the chemicals found in many commercial products, and their effects on the extremely sensitive endocrine system. Read about some helpful skin care practices, like dry skin brushing, bathing with herbs and the benefits of an oil self-massage.

Boxes are offered with sliding scale prices. To learn more about sliding scale pricing, please read this post. But basically, in a nut shell (pun intended!), I invite you to pay one of the reduced fees, if paying the full price would cause you to be less secure in your ability to meet your food, health, housing or essential transport needs. To determine where you fall on the scale when choosing which price to pay, please refer to this infographic created by Alexis J. Cunningfolk (Click image to enlarge).
